Biography
Kate Marotta is a Massachusetts-based dancer and choreographer whose work lives at the intersection of science and movement. A double major in Dance and Biology at Dean College, Kate creates choreography that translates scientific concepts—ranging from natural frequency and Newton’s Laws to biomedical ethics—into emotionally resonant, physically compelling performance. Her work aims to transform abstract theories into accessible stories that move both body and mind.
Her choreography has been featured in numerous Dean College productions and Arts Mosaic, and she is currently part of the aMassiT Choreographic Mentorship, where she continues developing her voice as a creator. Kate has had the opportunity to work with renowned choreographers including Robert Battle and Lauren Lovette, experiences that have shaped her choreographic approach and broadened her perspective. She has trained at both the Paul Taylor Summer Intensive and the Limón Summer Intensive, where she deepened her understanding of modern dance technique and composition.
With experience in both the arts and healthcare spaces, Kate is committed to creating interdisciplinary work that sparks dialogue and reflection. She believes movement can serve as a bridge between scientific inquiry and human experience, offering audiences new ways to understand the world around—and within—them. Through collaboration and curiosity, she seeks to create work that educates, inspires, and transforms.
